Taylormade R9 Of New Teches Makes You Play Like Pros
We ordinary guys and rookie golfers may buy the same clubs, but they bear little resemblance to what you see used on tour each week. It hardly seems fair that just because they're better golfers who use "cheap golf clubs" pros should get all the special attention. So when Taylormade Golf announced that they were integrating their Movable Weight Technology with a shaft that would allow you to control face angle, loft, and lie (they call it Flight Control Technology), I was thrilled. Best of all, for the traditionalists out there, the Taylormade R9 features a classic head shape that doesn't resemble a snow shovel.
The R9 comes in three selections: T3 at 13 degreed loft, 3 at 15 degree loft, 4 at 17 degree loft, and 5 at 19 degree loft. The club is available in all lofts for right handed golfers but only available to left handed golfers for the 3 and 5 wood. The 3 and T3 have a 58.5 degree lie and the 4 and 5 have a 59 degree lie. The 3 and T3 are 43 inches in length while 4 and 5 are 42.5 inches. The shaft is available from several companies: Fujikura, Aldila, Mitsubishi, Matrix, and is available in regular, stiff, and extra stiff shafts. An adjustable hosel allows players to change the lie and loft/face angle to eight settings for a custom trajectory.
What are the technologies this type of "cheap golf clubs" has applied?
Flight Control Technology - This is a cool and upcoming technology. This allows the player to easily move or change loft, lie and face angle! FCT uses a sleeve that is positioned over the tip of the shaft to accomplish. The sleeve can be rotated into different positions, changing the characteristics of the head, by loosening the bolt that secures the sleeve and shaft into the clubhead.
Movable Weight Technology - is nothing new for TM. The clubhead weight can be changed to by the player to change the characteristics of the club. This allows the golfer to optimize CG.
Inverted Cone Technology - has also been available for some time and become quite prevalent, Taylormade and other driver manufacturers as well. Nevertheless, it's a sound technology that is gaining in popularity. ICT optimizes the behavior of the clubface at impact, creating for an expanded COR zone.
Ultra Thin Wall Technology - this technology is also gaining steam amongst today's drivers. This allows saved weight and makes the incorporation of MWT and FCT possible.
